A common myth is that accepting yourself is the same as giving up. That is simply not true. Learning to have a healthy and positive relationship with yourself and your body is not the same as being complacent—it’s the first step to achieving your goals.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re someone who’s avoiding going on that first date, using dating apps for validation, or if you’ve simply been looking to make some positive changes for years. Employing proven therapeutic techniques is a practical way for anyone, regardless of your goals, to move forward.

Join Nathaniel Cilley, LMHC, a licensed psychotherapist with over 14 years of experience, for a three-hour workshop that teaches you scientifically proven techniques to escape the cycles of negative self-talk and shame so you can finally be the person you’re meant to be.

In the Self-Assured: A Gay Man’s Body Confidence Workshop, you’ll:

• Gain practical skills to break free from destructive all-or-nothing thinking
• Leave with concrete techniques to overcome negative self-talk to boost self-confidence
• Empower yourself to develop healthier dietary and exercise habits to reach your goals (and maintain this successfully long-term)
• Learn how to validate from within to no longer seek external validation (i.e., from Grindr, dating apps, needing constant reassurance from peers, etc.)
• Develop techniques to increase emotional resiliency and be self-assured regardless of how others perceive you


As gay men, we all want to feel independent and powerful, to look good and feel good, to have the confidence to change ourselves for the better. But when the desire to improve gets mixed up with feelings of shame or self-hate, then it can hold you back from creating healthy habits that will really stick.

About the Presenter

Nathaniel Cilley, LMHC, is a licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 14 years of mental health experience. He completed an Associate Fellowship with the Albert Ellis Institute and is certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He also holds a certificate from the Institute of Human Identity to be a certified LGBTQ therapist.

As a gay man, Nathaniel is acutely aware of the many challenges that face the gay community. Throughout his life, Nathaniel struggled with body dysmorphia and low self-esteem but overcame and managed these struggles by implementing the skills taught in this workshop. Given his personal experience and passion for helping others, Nathaniel was motivated to create The Body Confidence Workshop to enable others to develop the skills and habits necessary to overcome body issues and approach their lives with self-confidence and self-esteem.
