FAQ

Is Online Therapy Less Effective Than In-Person Therapy?

The short answer: Absolutely not. Modern telehealth options provide a confidential, easy-to-use way to get the same quality therapy online. In fact, many clients prefer online therapy because of its convenience. Others find it easier to talk when they aren’t in a strange, new space. Regardless of where you are, I create a safe, open environment to help you move forward on your goals.

Should I Get Therapy During the Coronavirus Pandemic?

The coronavirus pandemic has affected millions of people, both physically and mentally. If you’re struggling to adjust or feel the situation is making your anxiety worse, you’re not alone. If you’re ready to tackle your anxiety, you don’t have to wait to get started. All of my services are available online so you can get the help you need safely.

What’s The Difference Between Life Coaching and Psychotherapy?

Struggling with a problematic behavior or unhealthy negative emotion doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a mental health problem. Since we are all human and no one is perfect, all of us experience some unhealthy negative emotions and behaviors every now and then. They only become mental health problems when they’re ongoing and chronic, and when we can’t seem to get past them no matter what we do. Life coaching deals with shorter-term problems. These are solved by identifying and correcting unhelpful thoughts and behaviors on a smaller quicker scale.

What’s REBT, And How Can It Help Me?

“Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% your reaction to it.”

~ Charles Swindoll

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a scientifically proven type of therapy that teaches you how to make the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. There are two types of negative emotions; healthy and unhealthy ones. Not all negative emotions are bad. Healthy negative emotions motivate you to solve problems, and cope with the ones that can’t be solved. Unhealthy negative emotions get in the way of problem-solving, minimize your ability to cope, and increase suffering.

In spite of difficult life events, we may not be mindful of our thinking. Sometimes our beliefs can be deep within us, outside of our awareness. That’s where I come in. I’ll help you uncover your unhelpful beliefs, teach you where they came from and what to do about them. By learning how to change your thoughts you’ll gain control of how you feel and behave. Let me show you how!

Ideally How Long Might REBT Therapy Take?

REBT therapy can get you better in a relatively short amount of time. Of course everyone is different, but with strong participation on your part, and implementation of the skills learned each session, you’re likely to see noticeable changes in your unhealthy anxiety in about 12-16 weeks.

How Can Therapy/Coaching Help Me?

Of course every client is different, and how much it helps depends on a few factors: your regular attendance with appointments; willingness to open up; and the implementation of the skills learned in between sessions. Although therapy/coaching can be very insightful, powerful, and even fun, at first opening up can be difficult for some. Often we’re forced to confront painful emotions we’d rather not deal with. I understand how this can be a challenge. No need to panic! I’m here for you, and we’ll work together on a pace that best suits you, and gets you where you want to go. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a scientifically proven modality to effectively treat most problems. I’m confident that it can benefit just about anybody willing to use it.

How Can I Pay You?

I accept cash, or any valid credit or debit card. Payments are due at the beginning of the session. All clients are required to keep a card on file that will be ran only if there’s a violation of my 24-hour cancellation policy.

How Can I Tell If You’re A Good Fit?

One of the best ways to see if we’d be a good match is during the initial free 15 minute phone consultation. This is what I utilize with all potential new clients. The consultation is a great way for you to pretrial whether my therapeutic style and personality will best suite your needs. It’s also a great way to discuss the services I offer, and learn more about you. The consultation also gives us time for Q&A, and alleviates anxiety about getting the process started.

Every therapist/coach is different with his or her own unique style of practice. My goal is to ultimately help you feel comfortable enough to open up, so we can start working on getting you where you want to go. I understand how this can be really difficult for some. After all, in the beginning we hardly know each other. Keep in mind that it can take a few sessions to get a feel for who I am, and my therapeutic style.

How Do I Schedule An Appointment With You?

You can schedule an appointment by email, or by phone. If I’m in session and/or away from my phone, please feel free to leave a detailed message, including your name, phone number, and the best time and way to reach you. This way I can return your call or email the quickest and most efficient way possible.
